Manual Firmware update on Android 13 device

Overview

During the robot's first connection with the MyNeato app, the current software is downloaded to the robot. As of now, the Neato robot cannot complete this connection when using a device with Android 13. One possible workaround is a manual installation of the software, described in this article.

Installation for Windows

First of all, download the MyNeato app from the Google Play Store on your phone. If you have already downloaded the app before, check if you have the latest version (1.5.0 or newer). To check this, open the Google Play Store and search for the MyNeato app. Here you will have either the option to 'update' (click here) or 'open app' (meaning you already have the latest version).

Note that if you are not on the latest app version, this manual update will not work.

1.  Click here to download the firmware file.
2. Make sure the robot is correctly on the charge base during the whole process.
3. Open and remove the dust bin.
4. Near the left corner of the robot find the USB-C port.
   
5. Connect one end of your USB-C cable to the robot's USB-C port and the other end to your PC.
6. In Windows, find and open 'File Explorer'.
7. On the left side you will see 'Neato Robot' listed. Click the icon.
8. You will now see 'SW Update'. Double click on 'SW Update'.
   
9. Here you will see one file named 'version'.
   
10. Open a second instance of File Explorer and open the folder where you downloaded the file from step 1.
11. Drag and drop the file into the 'SW Update' folder.
    
    
12. The file will begin to copy. This may take 5-10 minutes. The LEDs on the robot will be pulsing yellow. This is an indicator that the process is working correctly.
13. Once the file copy is completed, the robot will update itself. When the update has been completed, the robot will reboot itself. The LEDs on the robot will start flashing in different colors, then you will hear a musical chime indicating that the robot has completed the reboot.
14. You can now disconnect the USB-C cable and replace the dust bin.

Now you can connect your robot to your smartphone or tablet (Android 13) as usual.

Installation for Mac OSx

First of all, download the MyNeato app from the Google Play Store on your phone. If you have already downloaded the app before, check if you have the latest version (1.5.0 or newer). To check this, open the Google Play Store and search for the MyNeato app. Here you will have either the option to 'update' (click here) or 'open app' (meaning you already have the latest version).

Note that if you are not on the latest app version, this manual update will not work.

1.  Click here to download the firmware file.
2. Download and install Android File Transfer.
3. If Android File Transfer isn't open, open it now.
4. Make sure the robot is correctly on the charge base during the whole process.
5. Open and remove the dust bin.
6. Near the left corner of the robot find the USB-C port.
   
7. Connect one end of your USB-C cable to the robots USB-C port and the other end to your Mac.
8. In OSx find and open 'Neato Robot'. (It will show up like a USB flash drive.)
9. Double click to open 'Neato Robot'.
   
10. You will see one file named 'version'.
11. Open the 'Finder' app and open the folder where you downloaded the file from step 1.
    
12. Drag and drop the file into the 'SW Update' folder.
    
    
13. The file will begin to copy. This may take 5-10 minutes. The LEDs on the robot will be pulsing yellow. This is an indicator that the process is working correctly.

To connect the Neato robot to your computer, you will require a USB-C cable with a connection to the USB port of your computer.
