Reset your robot

Overview

A reset of your robot can be helpful in many different scenarios.

This example illustrates when a restart is helpful: Your robot shows the error message 'brush is stuck'. You address the error and remove the sock that is stuck in the brush, yet the error persists. Then you reset your robot. Your Neato now starts fresh, meaning it no longer identifies the error.

Check the common error list for more information on when a reset can be helpful.

There are two ways to do a reset:

  1. Reset for when your robot is charged - the battery light is green
  2. Reset for when the robot's battery is empty or not charging - the battery light is red

App: MyNeato

Resolution 1 - Full battery

Follow the steps below if your robot's battery is charged.

  1. If open, fully close the MyNeato app on your phone or tablet.
  2. Remove the robot several in/cm from its charge base.
  3. Hold down the start button until all lights turn off.
  4. Hold the start button again for 3-4 seconds until you see the lights turn on.
  5. Wait for the robot to play the musical chime.
  6. Turn the MyNeato app back on.
  7. Check if the issue has been fixed.

Note: If the robot was connected to Wi-Fi, it will automatically attempt to reconnect. Network re-connections may take up to 3 minutes, depending on your network signal strength.

Resolution 2 - Empty battery

Use the following resolution path when your robot has an empty battery and/or is not charging. The battery light is either a steady red or a blinking red.

  1. If open, fully close the MyNeato app on your phone or tablet.
  2. Remove the robot several in/cm from its charge base.
  3. When its lights are still on, hold down the start button until all lights are off.
  4. Slowly push the Neato backward into the charge base. After a few seconds, it should light up by itself.
  5. If it does not light up try to wiggle it softly in place. The two metal bars on the robot have to touch the two bars on the charging base. See if the lights turn on even for a moment.
  6. If it does not light up by itself, wait for a few seconds, then hold the start button again for 3-4 seconds.
  7. Wait for the robot to play the musical chime.
  8. Turn the MyNeato app back on.
  9. Check if the issue has been fixed.

If you have followed all the steps but the lights on the robot still do not turn back on, you may need to check the charge base.
